The Queen Of Thursday Nights!! Kerry Washington

SHE STRIKES AGAIN! Kerry Washington the Queen of Prime Time television looks amazing on both the red carpet for Elle and grace’s the cover of Allure magazine with no makeup, looking stunning on both occasions.

Makeup wise her look on the Elle red carpet is simple and compliments her Calvin Klein dress beautifully. Breaking down her makeup, I’ll start with her eyebrows, filled in and concealed to create fresh polished brows, and her eyes pop with a bright blue eyeliner that adds just the right amount of  colour. Mascara and some eyelashes add some red carpet glamour to her look with a subtle peachy blush and nude lipstick on her lips to create a unified look. Everything works together with Kerry’s look, her hair being sleek and back into a low ponytail with simple accessories helps to produce a well executed look.

FASHION & MAKE-UP DAARLING!

Hi everybody!! I just wanted share this image that I can say I was apart of, because you see her face…I DID THE MAKEUP!! I had a great time working with Tiffany Dhani and her team on this shoot and the images were amazing!!

For the models overall look I went for a fresh springtime feel, very soft and not too heavy. To create this look, I filled in her eyebrows and concealer them with a concealer close to her skin tone. I applied a shimmery orange pigment eyeshadow to her lids, and mascara, and I opted out of using eyeliner to keep it as simple as possible. I went on to apply foundation and concealed underneath her eye area, I also contoured the sides of her face, and defined her cheek bones, adding a light pink blush on top and a nude lip gloss to finish the look. Ohh I also used a shimmery eyeshadow to create an illuminous glow to the top of her cheek bones.

2014 EMMYS – JULIA ROBERTS

 

I LOVE JULIA ROBERTS!!! Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s get into the break down of her look.

When I first saw the images of Julia Roberts and what she was wearing at EMMYS I have to say that I loved it as I thought that it was young and fresh, going against the usual floor length ball gowns and going for something more modern and youthful. I thought that her whole look was put together in such a    fun and vibrant way, wearing Elie Saab Couture. Her makeup is kept simple and fresh, foundation, filled eyebrows and eyeshadow that looks like a shimmery gold with a possible smoky brown or black added in the crease for added depth, but very light handed, as not to make it too dramatic, finished off with a nude sheer finish lipstick and a warm peachy blush the look is complete!

All in all, I am fan of this look for Julia Roberts!!

2014 VMAs – KELLY ROWLAND

 

Kelly Rowland looked stunning at this years Video Music Awards as she was proudly showing off her pregnancy in a Kaufmanfranco pink sequinned dress.

At this pass Sunday’s award ceremony she worn a grecian braid which framed her face in a graceful way. Her makeup just simply added to the glow that she already had. By the looks of it she was wearing foundation, a soft pink blush, which went beautifully with her pink lipstick and gloss. Now looking at her eye shadow I can see that her makeup artist went with a shimmery golden pigment to really brighten up her eyes, and with false eyelashes and filled in brows concealed for nice highlight effect, the look was complete.

All in all, I think that she looked stunning, and I wish her all the best throughout the rest of her pregnancy!

2014 EMMYS – KERRY WASHINGTON

The EMMYS happen on Monday 23rd August 2014, and as I looked at the various looks that passed through the red carpet Kerry Washington was definitely one that caught my attention!

Two things caught my attention to precise, firstly the fact that she only recently gave birth and her body looks amazing and secondly the chose of colour, an orange dress with black sequinned under skirt by Prada. I have to say that I loved the dress and thought that she looked stunning. Her look was brought together effortlessly with her hair and its newly added blonde highlights, which warms up and add a bit more fun to the overall look. Now focusing in on her makeup,  I love the chose of deep blue eye shadow for a smooth smoky look, with filled in eyebrows, foundation, a light pink shade blush application to the cheeks and a nude lipgloss to the lips to finish off the face.

I think that Kerry Washington won again with this look for the EMMYS and I can’t wait to see what she will be doing and sporting (clothes and makeup wise) next time.

Transforming your Face: Contouring

 

Contouring is always something that I have wanted to try and it took me a while to give it a go and it makes such a difference to the overall finished look. Contouring is a great way to bring some warmth back into your face after, through the use of foundation, your face has become one dimensional. It can also allow you to create the facial shape that you desire, or creating the illusion of a slimmer face.

The chart above is a good example of the way you can contour for your specific facial shape and the video below I think is very useful as well. Let me know what you think!

Let Your Light Shine

I have been away for ….quite some time guys, but now am back and hopefully with some consistency.

I was scrolling on Tumblr and saw this gorgeous shot that really caught my attention and got me thinking about the use of colour this season in makeup. I am a person that usually loves to create depth in my makeup looks by using a variety of complimentatory colours that can blended together nicely to create a beautiful look. I have been seeing quite a few fashion spreads with models sporting bright block colours for their eyeshadows, which in the image above compliments the model skin tone beautifully. If you were wanting to recreate a look similar to this trend, the best thing to do is choose a colour that both goes well with your outfit and skin tone.

Now have a go at sporting a pop of colour and let your light shine this summer!!

Rita Ora Brit Awards 2014

At the 2014 Brit Awards I have to say Rita Ora really stood out for in a gorgeous yellow with green emerald stone detailed dress by Prada, that I felt really complimented her skin tone and allowed her to shine in front of her peers.

For her makeup it was all about the eyes. The eye shadow was a dark green metallic pigment that was used to give depth to the eyes to give her a sexy glamorous look, with a yellow metallic pigment eye shadow on the inner most part of her eyelids to brighten up her eyes. The eyes were finished off with some liquid eyeliner and mascara. To pull the whole look together, Rita has on nude lipstick, which I thought was a great idea, as the dress is enough colour in itself, and a gentle swipe of blush to contour the cheek bones and slightly filled in brows.

All in all, I love this look on Rita, one of my favourite looks to date from her.

SAG Awards 2014 Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o has done it again!! If you haven’t heard already she has recently been awarded with the Critic’s Choice Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress, and I am so happy for her.

For the SAG awards she chose to wear a teal Gucci dress with gorgeous floral detail around the chest area, that complimented her skin tone beautifully.  Now, her make up, I wasn’t such a fan of, they went for metallic blue in the inner corner of the eye lid and a darker blue colour on the outer eye lid, with a lilac on the lower eye line, accompanied with black eye liner and mascara. I personally, don’t think she needed to have the lilac on the lower eye lid as it didn’t tie in with anything. They also put a red lipstick on her lips to finish off the whole look. I think they should of kept it simple, with just some foundation, eye liner, mascara and focused on injecting so colour in the lips with a purple hue lipstick.

All in all, she still looked amazing. Go Lupita!!!

GOLDEN GLOBES 2014 Kerry Washington

Mrs Kerry Washington, am sure, right now could possibly be one of the happiest women in the world right!! A hit TV show, ‘Scandal’ and newly married to her husband football player Nmandi-Asomugha, and currently expecting her first child, what else could you ask for!!

I love everything about the way Kerry looked at the 2014 Golden Globes, she was glowing in a white gown designed by Balenciaga that elegantly showed off her precious baby bump. Her make-up was beautifully done, foundation as a base with, a slight contour around the cheek area. On her lips she is wearing a nude lipstick and her eye shadow was a glittery grey smoky eye with black in the crease to add some intensity to the look, she is also wearing black eye liner with some fake eye lashes to finish off the look.

All in all, I love Kerry Washington and I think she looked fabulous!!
